ABOUT GLENDALE
Opened in 2004, Glendale is Nashville’s first Spanish Immersion Elementary School. Students learn Spanish and English in a dual language environment. Math and science are taught in Spanish, while reading, language writing, social studies and spelling are taught in English. Latin culture is also emphasized through art and music.
All classes are based on core curriculum standards. Grade level teams, the librarian, related arts teachers, and assistants and interventionists collaborate to provide a rich learning environment that challenges all students to reach their potential for learning. And it works! In 2017 Glendale was named a Reward school – among the top 5% in the State.
Glendale has a full-time Encore program for academically talented children. Over 40% of our students participate in the Encore program. We offer a computer lab, a Spanish/English library, opportunities for students to participate in activities after school, and special music and art experiences.
Glendale is a family-centered learning community. We welcome parents who are involved and want to participate in their child’s learning journey. Our doors are always open to parents who want to share their time and talents. By celebrating diversity through art, music, drama, dance, and storytelling, we work together to challenge and support all our students as they embark in their lifelong learning adventures.
